About

My name is Jon, and I like to nerd out.

My primary line of work is that of a Digital Producer, proudly making banner ads (and making banner ads BETTER) for some of the top clients at some of the top agencies in New York.

But at night, in secret, I like to DO stuff.  Build things.  Destroy things.  Code things.  Burn things. If it’s out there and it can be learnt, you better believe it’s on my list.

My work currently resides at R/GA, but I was a founding member of the McgarryBowen Labs group, meaning that over the course of my career in marketing, I’ve not only produced direct mail packages, banner ads, full websites, mobile experiences and Flash games, but also projector installations, social media listening platforms, sentiment analysis engines, geo-social mobile gaming platforms, 3D printers, Kinect hacks, tiny robots, much larger robots, candy canes, stop-motion LEGO videos, an automated mustache applicator, a mobile-enabled telepresence snowball fight, and a webcam-based heartbeat monitor.

I recently sold my name rights to a Chase Bank commercial, in which “Jon Thompson” is a racecar driver who has been written a check for $65, and I once beat a fox in a footrace.

If you want a hand with your digital nerditry, I’m standing by and eager to help out.  Find me anywhere fine nerds are sold:
